Vincent Jackson: Should he be resigned?

What do you guys think about the Vincent Jackson situation? He had a huge year last year, and by what I've seen of him in camp, he's ready to have another big year. Should the Chargers resign him now? Or should they wait until next season?

If they wait, and Jackson has a big year, he might become too expensive for them. I don't think it's a good idea to take such a trusted weapon away from our franchise QB. But he does have some DUI/legal problems and it's risky.

Should the Chargers resign Jackson or let him walk? Is the current wide receiver depth on the team good enough to let a guy like V-Jax go? What do you guys think?

V. Jackson should be re-signed. He has nothing but upside and it would be a shame to invest 3-4 years grooming him to be a #1 guy only to have let slip away to be utilized by another squad. Although we could have some depth stepping up (Floyd, Nannee, Buster (has not proven himself)) I don't see any of them stepping into a #1 WR role. Unless AJ has major concerns about Jackson's character and investing big money into him I don't see how/why we could let him go.

Agree, but what kind of contract should he get? Roddy White signed a 6 year, $50 million deal with the Falcons. Greg Jennings signed a four-year, $26.885 million contract with the Packers. Does Jackson fit somewhere in that range?

You know, I'm not sure where to classify V.Jack. He is an emerging #1 in my opinion but has yet to make the step into the "unstoppable, elite" role. Based on potential to develop along side Rivers, you have to assume he will demand similar money to Jennings and White. If he continues to develop and progress in similar fashion to his last several years, he will be worth the money. If he plateaus or stops working once he gets paid... I think again it is all up to what kind of person/worker AJ thinks Jackson is. Does he have the drive to be the best regardless if he's already got the guaranteed money? I am inclined to say that he is the type of player that will continue to strive for perfection. The chip on his shoulder will continue to drive him to keep proving himself.

Sorry I dont really have much to say about this question other then HELL YES. He is our only star receiver at this point and time. I do like the chemistry between Floyd and Rivers. We will see where that goes.
